Mrs. Frances Helton Bowden, age 87 of Lewisburg, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.
A native of Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Earnest Helton and Leona Clay Helton. She was a homemaker and was retired as a LPN at Leonard's Hospital and was a member of the Farmington Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Stanley Bowden a daughter, Sandra Bowden Gillespie and a grandson, Jack Gillespie, precedes Mrs. Bowden in death.
Survivors include three sons, Steve (Myra) Bowden of Lewisburg Stanley Bowden of MA and Phil Bowden of Lewisburg. One sister, Olean Williams of Lewisburg, two brothers, Ed Helton of Nashville and Roland (Dolly) Helton of Shelbyville, three grandsons, Steven Scott (Lee Anne) Bowden III of Franklin, TN Phillip (Erin) Bowden of Lewisburg, Tony (Karen) Bowden Johnson of Lewisburg, three grandaughters, Lauren Bowden (David) Wells of Franklin, TN Christy Bowden Beriner of Boston, MA, Melissa Bowden Gibbons of CT. Ten great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowden will be conducted on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bowden Cemetery with Jimmy Gray officiating. Visitation with the family will begin on Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Farmington Baptist Church.
